ATTENDANCE IS A MUST!!!

How Can an Absences Effect the Next Person
Do you know the importance of attendance in early and secondary education? While completing my observations I encountered many learning opportunities to assist with molding me into a certified teacher.  When planning to become a teacher research is required to assure the teacher of data about the school he or she would like to commit. As a potential teacher my belief that if a student does not come to class the child is less likely to learn or experience each subject area to the fullest. I did research on Jones Elementary to gain an understanding of their attendance rate. The attendance rate was 97.0% in 2011 which is decent, although there is room for improvement.
On February 16, 2012, I was blessed with the opportunity to assist a student with autism on a practice standardized test. The student showed signs on growth and frustration when he would be corrected for simple mistakes. This content of the test was Mathematics. The objective was problem solving and identifying currency (coins) value. While helping the student through this test my intentions were to teach him to read each word and underlining the most important words. Also, process of illumination can assist him with self-confidence with choosing his answers. After working with the student on several occasions I am able to conclude that the student could count in numerical order up to 65, and also has difficulty counting my fives. In addition to the students attention span was very short, due to distractions in the room the child displayed a weakness of keeping on task. In addition, the students gross motor skills such as hopping, jumping, scooting, and standing were outstanding along with his fine motor skills.
I chose the picture below to show how important parents are in each child's life. In my opinion the father has an important role and without him the child may have some issues in the future. The photo captures an image of my brother holding my niece for the first time. This photo stood out to because absences will cause one to get off track, mental set backs, and misunderstanding.
